rotating links

1 min read

the story

This explores on the idea of the an anchored point and a series of linked line segments. If we imbue each link with a length, direction to rotate, and a rate of rotation this is relative to the rotation of the preceding link, the links take on a interesting motion.

This has quite literally several moving parts. So we start simply, with a single segment…

To do

  • single segment, left and right rotation, no tracing
  • two equal segments
  • add optional tracing
  • variable number of links
  • vary rotation rates

variable length segments and variable rotation rate…

Fixed length segments…

Variable length segments…
